On Valentine’s Day week HCCC participated in Hearts for Art 2016, an event that invited museum visitors to show their love for a favorite piece of contemporary craft by placing a paper heart on the floor in front of their artwork crush.

Visitors of all ages fell in love with works on view in our current exhibitions: At Your Service, Found Subjects: Works by Sondra Sherman, and Mixed and Mastered: Turntable Kitsch. Among the top favorites were ceramic pieces by artists Debra Broz, Beccy Ridsdel, and Garth Johnson; steel and silver jewelry pieces by metalsmith Sondra Sherman, and After Rigaud:Versailles Orangerie, an installation of 78 hand-painted plates by ceramic artist Molly Hatch.
At Asher Gallery, visitors left paper hearts inside drawers, and even in the resident artists studios! Here are some pictures visitors shared online using the hashtag #HeartsforArt during their visit to Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.
